New Zealand Secures First Test Win in India Since 1988 with Eight-Wicket Victory

In a historic win, New Zealand defeated India by eight wickets in the first Test of the three-match series held in Bengaluru. New Zealand had to score 107 runs to won, their captain Tom Latham got out early with scoring any runs. After the early loss, Devon Conway and Will Young formed an important partnership to stabilize the situation. They managed to score runs steadily, with Conway scoring 17 before getting out, while Young remained not out at 45. Once Conway got out, Rachin Ravindra came in to bat. He supported Will Young effectively, scoring 39 runs without getting out, and together they completed the chase comfortably, securing the win for New Zealand.

Jasprit Bumrah, a key Indian bowler, managed to take two wickets. Despite his efforts, the Indian team struggled to control the New Zealand batsmen, who played well and remained resilient, ultimately leading their team to victory. In India’s batting innings, Sarfaraz Khan scored 150 runs, and Rishabh Pant narrowly missed a century, scoring 99 runs. These high scores were crucial in setting a strong and competitive total for the Indian team. However, despite this effort, when it was India’s turn to bowl, they could not prevent New Zealand from chasing down the target. This victory marks New Zealand’s first Test win on Indian soil since 1988.
