Lidia Thorpe, is an Aboriginal Australian independent politician, representing Victoria. She is a prominent advocate for Indigenous rights in Australia. As a member of the Gunnai, Gunditjmara, and Djab Wurrung peoples, her activism is deeply connected to her Aboriginal heritage and the struggles of Indigenous Australians.
Throughout her political career, Thorpe has repeatedly condemned the royal family for its historical role in colonization, arguing that they have profited from the dispossession and suffering of Indigenous Australians. Her recent confrontation with King Charles III, where she accused him of genocide and demanded the return of stolen land and artifacts, underscores her passionate activism.
Thorpe’s protest against the King occurred during his nine-day tour of Australia, marking the first visit by a British monarch since Queen Elizabeth II’s 2011 trip.
