Melbourne: Few years back at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) awards function in Bengaluru, young Nitish Reddy, who was adjudged the U-16 Cricketer of the Year, had a fanboy moment.
Seeing his idol Virat Kohli with wife Anushka Sharma, the youngster was desperate to get a picture with the couple but was hesitant. He managed a “safety photo” where the two were also in the selfie frame but sister Tejaswi Reddy reveals how Anushka stepped in to give her brother the memory of a lifetime.
“During Naman Awards (BCCI annual awards), when my brother was unable to get a photograph from Virat bhai, Anushka ma’am stepped in and she gave a photograph. And we felt very happy that ma’am gave a photograph. That was a fanboy moment for my brother, and at that time, my uncle was also there with him,” revealed Tejaswi on Sunday.
The Reddy family bumped into Anushka in Melbourne and the actress obliged them with a picture too. It was another frame for the family wall but the sister, who was a bit nervous, was very happy to get a memorable photo. It’s not just Nitish who idolises Kohli but the entire family is in awe of the Indian legend.
“It is not just my brother who idolises Virat bhai. My father also idolises him and the whole family is a fan of Virat bhai and his family. So meeting Anushka ma’am also was a very memorable moment for us,” says Tejaswi.
When they went to surprise Nitish at the team hotel after Day 3 in Melbourne, the Reddys met Kohli and shared the story from the BCCI Awards in 2018.
The family wall got the latest, and probably the most prized possession, as Kohli too posed for a proper picture with the entire bunch – Nitish, his parents, uncle and sister Tejaswi.
Melbourne, indeed, is serving the Reddys well!
