NEW DELHI: After Day 2 and 3 being washed out, play finally got underway and that too on time in the second Test between India and Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on Monday.
The Green Park authorities may have hired langurs to drive away hungry monkeys, but there’s no possible way to keep wasps and bees off the field.
Indian bowlers did well to take three Bangladesh wickets in the first session of the day. Mominul Haque was nearing his hundred with Mehidy Hasan Miraz for company.
Bangladesh were 188/6 when Mehidy Hasan called for the physio and got some treatment.
“He has been stung by a wasp,” cricketer-turned-commentator Murali Karthik informed on air.
India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah ended Mehidy’s stay at the crease by having him caught by Shubman Gill at first slip for 20 in the second session of the day.
