Right from the first installment ‘Squid Game’ has been the talk of the talk. The second season of the same is just about to arrive and ahead of the same, the conversation around its third and final installment has caught everyone’s attention.
Yes, you read that right! Since ‘Squid Game’ Season 2 is scheduled for release on December 26, 2024, an eye is already set on the future of Season 3. TV Insider reports that the show writer-director, Hwang Dong-hyuk said that this suspenseful thriller will finally come to a climactic end with Season 3. Seasons 2 and 3 were shot one after the other, therefore, the last season is likely to hit the screens in 2025.
Cast
So far, there is no announcement about who has been cast for the third and final part, but of course, Lee Jung-jae will be coming back as Seong Gi-hun. The entire plot revolves around the revenge promised by the main protagonist at the end of season 1 when he tries to destroy the whole game.
Further, Season 2 introduced some new additions, but it is very unlikely that any of them would be reprising their role in the third installment, owing to the nature of the high risks of the games.
Plot: Revenge and Resolution
Season 3 will follow the after-effects of Season 2. Hwang states that the last two seasons were written as a single story, but it was split into two so that Gi-hun’s story could be done justice. The final confrontation between Gi-hun and the mysterious Front Man will wrap everything up.
‘Squid Game’ draws inspiration from the violent labor strikes in 2009 by Ssangyong Motor Company. The name of the series is derived from the form of the playing field shaped like a squid in the title childhood game. As intense as it is, the final season of ‘Squid Game’ is to leave an indelible mark on global television.
